Knowledge and Skills

During his training, Dr. King had the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed to perform operations on the following organs and systems:

  • Digestive tract - esophagus, stomach, small bowel, large bowel and rectum
  • Abdomen - stomach, diaphragm, bilary tract, liver, pancreas, spleen and all types of hernias
  • Breast - all types of benign and malignant disease
  • Skin and underlying tissues - all types of benign and malignant disease
  • Surgical critical care - care of critically ill patients with surgical conditions requiring intensive care
  • Surgical oncology - surgical management of cancer treatment and coordination of all aspects of cancer care

Routinely Laparascopic Surgeries:

  • Gallbladder removal
  • Anti-reflux surgery
  • Repair of hernia in diaphragm
  • Partial or total colon removal
  • Partial small intestine removal
  • Removal of spleen
  • Repair of abdominal wall hernia
  • Removal of appendix
  • Exploratory laparoscopy

GI Procedures:

  • Colonoscopy
  • EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
  • EsophyX TIF (Transluminal Incisionless Fundoplication)

Other Surgeries:

  • Repair of groin hernias
  • Repair of umbilical hernia
  • Breast biopsy
  • Lumpectomy of breast for cancer
  • Partial breast radiation catheter
  • Removal of entire breast for cancer
  • Sentinal lymph node biopsy
  • Skin biopsy
  • Melanoma excision (with complex closure if needed)
  • Partial or total thyroid removal
  • Removal of parathyroid glands
  • Removal of hermmorhoids
  • Open exploratory surgery
  • Partial or total removal of the stomach
  • Varicose veins - spider veins
